Family Connections Help

I believe it is essential for family members to also have support while facing the challenges of dealing with a relative who is struggling. Family Connections is a resource for family members of loved ones who struggle with intense emotion dysregulation, suicidality, and/or Borderline Personality Disorder. Family Connections is a free 12-week course (run by family members that have been trained) that meets weekly to provide education, skills training, and support for family members. They also occasionally offer an intensive weekend workshop with 12 weeks worth of material and skills in one weekend. Some of my clients are family members who are trying to figure out how to take care of themselves and support their loved ones through challenging times. I also work with clients that yearn for support from their families but struggle to ask. Family members have reported decreased feelings of depression, burden, and increased feelings of empowerment after completing the course. I have seen the impact it has had on the family members and the clients, as there is a shared goal of improved relationships that comes as a result of effective skills to support and communicate with each other. I work closely with NEABPD and help run the intensive weekend workshops in New Haven and hope to see you join us at an upcoming event.
